Creationism []
Creationism is the fundamental idea that the world was created as described in the Book of Genesis which is the 1st book of the Bible. Advocates of creationism fought to have it taught in the United States public school system along with the Theory of Evolution which creationists oppose. During the 1980's, several court rulings upheld that it was religious in nature to teach creationism in school and ruled against it. In 1999 teaching the Theory of Evolution was removed from the Kansas high school curriculum but was reinstated in 2001.
Creationists believe that nature was created as one time event and that God designed everything to follow a plan.
