Interdemic Selection: Also called group selection, interdemic selection occurs when the population or group continues to exist based (largely) on the size of the group or "phenotypic characteristic" (Futuyma, 2009). The process of interdemic selection occurs in addition to the act of individual selection among populations (Ibid). This type of natural selection affects the species within any given population and occurs when the creatures die or grow as a whole depending on whether they've inherited harmful or beneficial traits (BioTech
