Behavioral Isolation; Far Side

Reproduction is obviously required for the survival of species, but through evolution barriers have occurred that prevent the transfer of genetic material.

Prezygotic barriersEdit

Prezygotic barriers occur before a zygote is formed.

Examples of barriersEdit

Habitat isolation: species live in different areas and rarly meet

Temporal isolation: breeding occurs at different times of day or different seasons.

Behavioral isoloation: Different courtship rituals

Mechanical isolation: differences in physical structures that prevent successful mating

Gametic isolation: male and female gamates refuse to unite
